CHISINAU, March 8. /TASS/. The head of Moldova’s region of Gagauzia, Yevgenia Gutsul, has returned home after attending the World Youth Festival in Russia, and she has crossed the border at Chisinau’s airport without any difficulty, a TASS correspondent reported.
Gutsul also said at the airport that Moldova should be friends with Russia.
"I have not broken the law. I have done nothing bad. On the contrary, I want us to be friends with everyone, especially Russia," Gutsul said, commenting on reports about her potential arrest.
The reports have come out after Acting Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu said learning about Gutsul’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that he intended to file a criminal case against her with the court. Meanwhile, Ilan Shor, an opposition politician supporting the Gagauzian head, warned that the Moldovan authorities were likely to detain Gutsul upon her arrival from Russia for criticizing Chisinau for confrontation with Moscow.
