Moldovan president accuses Russia of seeking to stage state coup in Moldova

Apart from that, Maia Sandu thanked Macron for supporting the current Moldovan government and offering financial and military assistance

CHISINAU, March 7. /TASS/. Moldovan President Maia Sandu has accused Russia of trying to stage a state coup in her country.

In a statement made after a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, she alleged that "Moscow is seeking to control" Moldova by means of energy blackmail, backing protests, disinformation campaigns and "even attempts at staging a state coup."

Apart from that, she thanked Macron for supporting the current Moldovan government and offering financial and military assistance.

Sandu’s visit to Paris yielded agreements on military and economic cooperation between France and Moldova.

Grass-roots opposition protests have been held in Moscow since 2022, demanding the resignation of the government and president. The protests blame the authorities for skyrocketing prices and deteriorating living standards.
