Fortifications being built round the clock in Kiev-controlled part of Zaporozhye Region

Ivan Fedorov said that Kiev had allocated more than $34 million for the construction of fortifications in areas under its control in the Zaporozhye Region

MOSCOW, March 7. /TASS/. The construction of fortifications in the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Zaporozhye Region is proceeding non-stop round the clock, the head of the Kiev-appointed regional administration, Ivan Fedorov, has said.

"We are building fortifications in the Zaporozhye area. Military and civilian contractors keep working round the clock," he wrote on his Telegram channel and published a video illustrating the process.

Earlier, Fedorov said that Kiev had allocated more than $34 million for the construction of fortifications in areas under its control in the Zaporozhye Region.

After the failure of Kiev's hyped "counter-offensive" and a number of failures of the Ukrainian military on the frontline, the Ukrainian authorities have been paying special attention to equipping defensive lines and allocating significant funds for this purpose. At the end of November last year, an interdepartmental working group was set up to deal with the construction of fortifications. On March 4, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that the headquarters for the coordination of the construction of defensive lines was working non-stop seven days a week. About $525 million has already been allocated for the construction of fortifications in the country since the beginning of the year.

At the same time, in December 2023, the Verkhovna Rada’s member, Alexandra Ustinova, said that due to problems with receiving support from the Western countries, Kiev would have to go on the defensive and for that reason Ukraine was building three lines of fortifications.
