Venezuela’s Maduro not to attend Argentina summit due to planned provocation — authorities

Head of the opposition "Republican Proposal" political party, ex-Minister of Security of Argentina Patricia Bullrich announced that she intends to contact the US authorities to have Maduro arrested during his visit to Buenos Aires

BUENOS AIRES, January 23. /TASS/. President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro will not go to Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Summit in Argentina because of the information about a provocation being prepared against him, the Venezuelan government said in a statement, tweeted by Minister of Communication and Information Freddy Nanez Monday.

"Due to the outrageous plans of the right extremists, connected to the interests of countries outside of our region, and in order to facilitate a successful progress of the summit, we have made a responsible decision to send a Minister of Foreign Affairs as the head of our delegation," the statement reads.

Earlier on Sunday, head of the opposition "Republican Proposal" political party, ex-Minister of Security of Argentina Patricia Bullrich announced that she intends to contact the US authorities to have Maduro arrested during his visit to Buenos Aires.
