BEIJING, November 15. /TASS/. China considers Russia’s position on the inadmissibility of a nuclear war to be sound and responsible, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday.
"China noted that Russia has recently reiterated its position that a nuclear war is impossible and inadmissible. It is a rational and responsible position from Russia," the Chinese foreign ministry quoted him as saying at a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on the sidelines of the Group of Twenty summit in Indonesia’s Bali.
In his address to the 10th Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons on August 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that there can be no winners in a nuclear war and such a war must never be unleashed.
On November 9, at a session of the UN General Assembly dedicated to the 2022 report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a member of the Russian delegation, Alexander Shevchenko, stressed that Russia’s nuclear doctrine is purely defensive and cannot be interpreted in a broad way.
