MOSCOW, April 25. /TASS/. In the wake of the detention of several members of a neo-Nazi terrorist organization, who on orders from the Ukrainian secret service SBU had been plotting the killing of journalist Vladimir Solovyov, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has said that Ukraine has degraded to a terrorist state.
"Ukraine has degraded to a terrorist state and lost independence," Volodin said in a comment uploaded to the official website of the lower house of the Russian parliament. "Of course, the world community is obliged to intervene: first and foremost to stop supplying weapons and ammunition there."
He stressed that the responsibility for the quashed terrorist plot rested squarely upon Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
"Zelensky is the president of a country that has unleased a war against its own people, that is reluctant to conduct a dialogue, that has armed itself and supports Nazi ideology. Now, as we can see, it poses a threat to civilian citizens and journalists, puts a contract out on them and plots terrorist attacks," Volodin said.
The group of neo-Nazis detained earlier testified, according to a video released by Russia’s federal security service FSB, it had plotted an attack with the aim to kill journalist Vladimir Solovyov and discussed attacks against other prominent media personalities and public figures, including Dmitry Kiselyov, Olga Skabeyeva, Yevgeny Popov, Margarita Simonyan and Tigran Keosayan.
