Russian sports minister confirms WADA’s access to Moscow labs

Earlier it was reported that the experts would arrive on November 28

MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov confirmed that experts of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will be granted access to the Moscow anti-doping laboratory, Kolobkov informed TASS.

Earlier, WADA President Craig Reedie stated that WADA experts would arrive in Moscow on November 28 to visit the anti-doping laboratory.

"The Russian Ministry of Sport continues to actively cooperate with WADA and the Russian Investigative Committee, we control the implementation of all agreements reached earlier. All necessary procedures are held with direct participation of the Ministry of Sport and in coordination with the Investigative Committee. It was announced today that WADA experts would arrive in Moscow on November 28. We fulfill our obligations on granting access to the laboratory in full," the minister stated.

On September 20, the WADA Executive Committee decided to reinstate RUSADA on condition that WADA would be granted access to the Moscow laboratory, sealed for a federal investigation. WADA also expects Russia to provide all suspicious samples from the laboratory for retesting until June 30, 2019.

If Russia fails to fulfill WADA’s conditions, RUSADA will be once again declared non-compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code and Russian athletes will be stripped of the right to compete at the international level.
