VLADIVOSTOK, February 5. /TASS/. Experts of the Primorsky Region's hunting supervision service have set free the Siberian tiger that was captured earlier near the village of Barabash in the northern area of the region, according to the press service of the regional Ministry of Forestry, Environmental Protection, Wildlife and Natural Resources.
"A male Siberian tiger, captured by experts from the Primorsky Region’s hunting supervision and 'Leopard Land' on the night of February 1-2 in the Khasansky District, was set loose on February 4 into a sparsely populated, food-rich area of the Krasnoarmeysky District in the Primorsky Region," the report says.
The method of relocating predators to a new territory is an effective way to mitigate conflicts between Siberian tigers and humans. Although the process is stressful for the predator, it is not dangerous, and the relocated individual typically does not provoke further conflicts.
