HAIKOU /China/, March 14. /TASS/. Participants of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), which will soon be held on the eastern coast of Hainan Province, will focus on discussing both economy, ecology, social issues and innovation, as well as global geopolitical problems, according to a program released by the BFA Secretariat.
"The Russia-Ukraine conflict is dragging on, and there is a new escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict," the commentary for the "Global Geopolitical Outlook" panel discussion said. " What should all [interested] parties do to jointly resolve global problems in the context of escalating tensions and conflicts between leading powers?"
Another important topic that the guests of the forum are going to discuss is the danger of fragmenting the international trading system. This threatens "a huge increase in costs for the world economy, especially for developing countries."
The program shows that the organizers of the forum have set themselves the task to strengthen the solidarity of political and expert circles of Asia and other regions through discussions, to strengthen mutual trust for the sake of joint peaceful development. This year's BFA events are divided into four sections: World Economy, Science, Technology and Innovation, Social Development, and International Cooperation.
An important sub-forum on the global development of free trade ports will be held in Boao. Hainan authorities actively support the BFA and constantly improve the level of its organization, TASS correspondent reports.
The BFA has been regularly held since 2001 and has about 30 participating countries (Asia-Pacific states). This year it will be held on March 26-29 themed "Asia and the World: Common Challenges, Common Responsibilities". The Boao Forum for Asia is called the Eastern Davos; it is a major platform for the signing of major agreements, coordination of positions between representatives of business and government circles of Asian countries and all other regions of the world. Chinese authorities pay great attention to its development and view this mechanism as an effective instrument of soft diplomacy, which promotes and strengthens Beijing's international contacts.
