MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) detained 10 accomplices of the international terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (outlawed in Russia) in nine Russian regions, the FSB Center for Public Relations (CPR) told TASS on Friday.
"The Federal Security Service with the support of Russia's National Guard (Rosgvardia) in the territory of the republics of Bashkortostan, Dagestan, Ingushetia, and in the Krasnodar, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Novosibirsk, Tula and Tyumen regions suppressed the activities of 10 accomplices of the international terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (outlawed in Russia), currently operating in Syria," the CPR noted.
The FSB reported that on the instructions of the organization’s emissaries, the detainees created an extensive inter-regional network for the collection, accumulation and transfer of funds to accounts and bank cards registered to third parties. "The money received under the guise of charity was subsequently sent to the needs of fighters in the terrorist-controlled zone of the Syrian Arab Republic in Idlib," the FSB added.
During the searches, means of communication, payment tools, and other documentary materials confirming their illegal activities were seized from the suspects. Criminal cases were opened against the suspects on charges of facilitation of terrorist activity.
