Over 1.3 mln refugees arrived in Poland from Ukraine since February 24, Border Guard says

A lot of people arriving in Poland from Ukraine are using the services of special welcome centers for refugees that arrange for their accommodations in various Polish regions

WARSAW, March 9. /TASS/. The number of refugees that have arrived in Poland from Ukraine since the beginning of the special military operation there has surpassed 1.3 mln, the Polish Border Guard reported on Twitter on Wednesday.

"Since February 24, 1.33 mln people have arrived in Poland from Ukraine," the agency reported.

According to the Border Guard, 93% of those arriving in Poland over the recent days are Ukrainian citizens, Polish citizens make up 1%, while citizens of other countries amount to 6%. Some 90% of the arrivals are women with children.

"Yesterday, on March 8, the Border Guard staff admitted 125,800 arrivals from Ukraine. Today, before 07:00 (09:00 Moscow time), 33,500 people arrived from Ukraine," the agency added.

Many of those arriving in Poland from Ukraine are using the services of special welcome centers for refugees that arrange for their accommodations in various Polish regions. Some 30 such centers have been created in the republic. Others are being greeted by their relatives and friends. Poland is collecting donations for the refugees. Some refugees from third countries, in particular, foreign students, after arriving in Poland continue on to their countries.
