MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. The technical groups of Russia and the United States may discuss certain aspects of the Ukrainian settlement at a meeting in the coming days, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
He said that one of the key topics of the negotiations would be the resumption of the Black Sea initiative.
US special envoy Steven Witkoff said he planned to hold discussions in Saudi Jeddah following talks between the US and Russian leaders. He mentioned reciprocal cessation of strikes by Russia and Ukraine on energy infrastructure and a halt on shelling in the Black Sea as the topics of negotiations.
The Black Sea Maritime Initiative, also known as the Grain Deal, involved the shipment of Ukrainian grain from the Black Sea ports and restoration of exports of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to the world markets. Contrary to the agreements, the West sent most of the Ukrainian grain to its countries, while the main purpose of the deal - delivery of grain to the countries in need - was never realized. Commitments to Russia were not fulfilled, and in July 2023, Moscow withdrew from the deal.
