US to intensify pressure on Global South, East countries — Lavrov

The top Russian diplomat noted that the US will have to reevaluate its dictatorial approach and recognize the trends of the modern world someday

MOSCOW, December 26. /TASS/. Russia is not surprised that the new US administration will continue to escalate pressure on countries of the Global South and East, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in an interview with Russian and foreign media.

"We are not surprised by the threats to raise tariffs, to punish those who use other currencies instead of the dollar, or use other payment systems. As I have already said, suppressing all competition and seeking unilateral benefit has always determined the United States’ policies, and there is nothing new about it. The policy of interfering in the affairs of sovereign states has long reflected Washington’s methods, so it will naturally continue. And we need to be prepared for it," the minister noted.

Lavrov added that the US will have to reevaluate its dictatorial approach and recognize the trends of the modern world someday.

"After all, life should force the US to understand trends and real processes in the modern world, and that diktat may no longer be the main instrument for managing international relations," Russia’s top diplomat emphasized.
