Western intel agencies seek to create hotbeds of tension in Russia — FSB chief

Alexander Bortnikov also mentioned that international terrorist organizations had intensified their recruitment efforts among migrants arriving in Russia from Central Asia to establish terrorist cells across the country

MOSCOW, December 10. /TASS/. Western intelligence agencies are attempting to create hotbeds of tension, instigate mass unrest, and incite terrorist attacks in Russia, Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov said.

"Western intelligence agencies are also trying to create hotbeds of tension in Russia, primarily in regions with people of various ethnic and religious backgrounds. They also seek to fuel protest sentiment and provoke violent conflicts that could lead to mass unrest and terrorist attacks," he pointed out at a meeting of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee.

Bortnikov also mentioned that international terrorist organizations had intensified their recruitment efforts among migrants arriving in Russia from Central Asia to establish terrorist cells across the country. "We have received reports of inmates being recruited into terrorist activities while in prison," he added.
