MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. Russia is currently considering Turkey’s idea of ensuring the security of maritime shipping in the Black Sea, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin told reporters.
"We are aware of such ideas that are currently being considered by us," the senior Russian diplomat said, when asked if Russia has joined efforts to work out the rules of maritime shipping security in the Black Sea.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged efforts to conclude an agreement on ensuring the security of commercial shipping in the Black Sea. Communication in cooperation with the United Nations toward formulating new rules that would envisage obligations in this sphere is ongoing, the Turkish leader added.
