Lavrov, President of Brazil stress need for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

A unified perspective was stated on the necessity for the UN Security Council to demand an immediate ceasefire, the resolution of urgent humanitarian crises, said the Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW, February 23. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stressed the need for the UN Security Council to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to remove obstacles to the implementation of UN decisions on the creation of a Palestinian state, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

According to the statmeent the parties "noted similar positions on the profound crisis in the Palestinian territories, which has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of civilians. A unified perspective was stated on the necessity for the UN Security Council to demand an immediate ceasefire, the resolution of urgent humanitarian crises, and the elimination of obstacles to the execution of UN decisions on establishing a Palestinian state.".
