UN committee points out numerous human rights issues in US – Russian Foreign Ministry

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the Human Rights Committee has once again “debunked the myth of the infallible reputation” of the United States

MOSCOW, November 25. /TASS/. The UN Human Rights Committee concluded that the US has numerous human rights issues, the Russian Foreign Ministry said after the review of the US’ Fifth Periodic Report on implementation of its obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in 2015-2020.

"The conclusions and the final remarks of the Human Rights Committee following the review of the US report clearly indicate the presence of numerous human rights issues in the country that proclaimed itself a ‘paragon of democracy’ and the ‘leader in fighting for human rights around the world’," the Ministry said. "Using concrete examples, the Committee once again debunked the myth of the US’ infallible reputation, proving the imperfection of the US legislation system and its law enforcement practice that cannot ensure the efficient protection of human rights and freedoms".
