No plans to evacuate civilians from Zaporozhye Region at this point, authorities say

"If there are shelling attacks along the frontline that pose an elevated threat to the people, then such measures may be taken," Yevgeny Balitsky stressed

SIMFEROPOL, November 11. /TASS/. The authorities in the Zaporozhye Region aren’t considering the option of evacuating civilians, Acting Regional Governor Yevgeny Balitsky told reporters on Friday.

"We aren’t considering an evacuation. If there are shelling attacks along the frontline that pose an elevated threat to the people, then such measures may be taken. However, only within the Zaporozhye Region. There are currently no plans to evacuate people from the Zaporozhye Region to Crimea or other Russian regions," he noted.

The Kherson Region’s Acting Governor Vladimir Saldo announced on October 18 that civilians would be relocated from the west bank of the Dnieper River to the east bank due to the risk of flooding that could happen if Ukrainian forces struck the Kakhovka hydropower plant. The official said on October 31 that people on the east bank living within 15 kilometers of the Dnieper would also be evacuated.
