KIEV, October 10. /TASS/. More than 30 fires erupted in Kiev and eight Ukrainian regions where critical infrastructure suffered damage, the country’s State Service for Emergency Situations said on Monday.
"More than 30 fires broke out," it said in a statement published on Facebook (banned in Russia as it’s owned by Meta Corporation, which is designated as extremist in Russia).
Damaged critical infrastructure mostly includes energy facilities, according to the statement. More than 1,000 people and 120 vehicles are involved in the firefighting and disaster relief efforts.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an urgent Security Council meeting on Monday that a massive strike with "long-range precision weapons" had been inflicted on Ukrainian energy, military command and communications facilities. He said the Ukrainian government has long used terrorist tactics, such as an attempt to blow up a section of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, the strikes that are being inflicted on the Zaporozhye NPP, and the three terrorist attacks on the Kursk NPP. The Russian president warned Kiev these actions would be met with a stiff response.
