Russia insists that UNSC should openly discuss US biolabs in Ukraine

State Duma Deputy Speaker Irina Yarovaya said the parliamentary investigation of the activities of US biolaboratories in Ukraine conducted by a Russian parliamentary commission is truthful and open "like the entire Russian policy"

MOSCOW, May 12. /TASS/. State Duma Deputy Speaker Irina Yarovaya said that Russia insists on an open discussion of the activities of US biological laboratories in Ukraine at a meeting of the UN Security Council, the legislature’s press service said on Thursday.

"Thanks to Russia, the world has the opportunity to do this," the press service quoted Yarovaya as saying in a statement. "Russia insists on an open discussion at a meeting of the UN Security Council because the projects created by the United States are a global threat."

Yarovaya said the parliamentary investigation of the activities of US biolaboratories in Ukraine conducted by a Russian parliamentary commission is truthful and open "like the entire Russian policy." The investigation, she said, protects the citizens of Russia, a country that is ready to cooperate "in the interests of global security."

The Duma deputy speaker said that the open meeting, announced by Russia, will allow non-UN Security Council member countries to participate and ensure a full live broadcast.

Earlier, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmitry Polyansky said that Russia had requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on May 13 on the issue of military biological programs of US laboratories in Ukraine. The meeting is scheduled for 10:00 New York time (17:00 Moscow time) on May 13.
