NATO arms convoys in Ukraine may trigger clash with Russia — diplomat

According to Alexey Polishchuk, NATO declared that it would continue arms supplies to Ukraine amid Russia’s special military operation

MOSCOW, March 6. /TASS/. Organizing NATO weapons convoys in Ukraine is extremely dangerous and may lead to a clash between Russia and the alliance, Alexey Polishchuk, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s second department of the CIS countries, said in an interview with TASS

According to the diplomat, NATO declared that it would continue arms supplies to Ukraine amid Russia’s special military operation.

"This creates unacceptable risks," he said. "Weapons are among military targets, whose safety cannot be guaranteed, including during storage and transportation. They can be used in Kiev’s provocation, with the purpose to frame Russia for that.

"Arms convoys are extremely dangerous and may lead to a Russia-NATO clash with most disastrous consequences. We have warned about that," the diplomat added.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to the appeal of the leaders of the republics of Donbass, decided to conduct a special military operation. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow’s plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories. After that, the US, EU, and UK, as well as several other states, announced that they were imposing sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities.
