MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Moscow has facts that Washington has interfered in Russia’s domestic affairs and US diplomats took part in opposition rallies calling for a change of power, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the program "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" on Rossiya 1 TV channel.
"US diplomats have been seen many times at public events of the opposition, including the non-system opposition, with the slogans of a regime change and so on and so forth," Lavrov said. However, US colleagues are trying to joke on this, saying that the relations will normalize, but there has been no response to the facts of meddling so far.
"In response, we tell them that we have not just suspicions regarding them, but they have a legislation called the Ukraine Support Act passed in 2015," Lavrov said. Under this legislation, the US State Department is ordered to spend $20 mln per year to promote democracy in Russia, including funding Russian NGOs. However, Washington claims that it tries not to meddle, Lavrov said.
"All organizations, which get financing under this legislation, are now under scrutiny," the foreign minister said.
