Russia issues arrest warrant for Ukrainian intelligence head Budanov

The entry says Budanov is wanted on unspecified criminal charges

MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. Russia has issued an arrest warrant for the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) Kirill Budanov, according to the Russian interior ministry's database.

The entry says Budanov is wanted on unspecified criminal charges.

The Federal Security Service (FSB) said in October 2022 that GUR and its head were responsible for the October 8 attack on the Crimean Bridge. He was charged in absentia on four charges: creating a terrorist group, attempting to carry out a premediated terror attack by a group of individuals and illegal purchases of weapons and explosives.

Moscow’s Lefortovo District Court arrested him for two months in absentia. The time of his arrest will begin when he is extradited in Russia or detained on the Russian territory.

On October 3, the Russian Investigative Committee charged Budanov and several other military commanders in absentia for authorizing drone attacks on Russian territory between April 2022 aand September 2023. The investigators added that in the near future they would officially put these individuals on the wanted list.
