Bad weather leaves 11 dead, 71 injured across Russia

"A total of 82 people were affected: 11 died and 35 were taken to the hospital," Russia's Emergencies Ministry reported

MOSCOW, July 31. /TASS/. The bad weather that hit 17 regions in Russia a few days ago claimed 11 lives, the press service of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry has told TASS.

"The Emergencies Ministry is overseeing the response efforts after the dangerous and unfavorable meteorological phenomena that occurred across the territory of 17 regions, such as heavy precipitation and wind gusts up to 27 meters per second. A total of 82 people were affected: 11 died and 35 were taken to the hospital," the Emergencies Ministry said.

In Chuvashia, the search continues for two people in connection with a boat that capsized on the Volga. Seven people were rescued. A power outage in several regions along the Volga affected almost 100,000.

"Power has been restored everywhere, except for one community in the Penza Region," the press service added.

Emergency repair work is continuing.
