ROME, October 24. /TASS/. The number of Russians hospitalized after the incident at the station of the Rome metro, reached 15 people, representatives of the Russian Embassy in Italy told TASS.
"As a result of the escalator malfunction in the Rome subway, 15 Russians were hospitalized, five of them have already been discharged," the Embassy said.
In total 19 people were hospitalized. According to diplomats, the number includes four are citizens of Ukraine, who were also offered assistance from the Russian diplomatic mission.
As TASS reported earlier, one of the Russian fans with the most serious injuries was undergoing surgery at the Umberto I hospital. In general, the state of the Russians does not cause concern.
The incident happened on Tuesday, when an escalator at a metro station in central Rome sped up, causing a pileup at the bottom resulting in multiple injuries.
