Russia to speak separately with brands that quit leaving loopholes — Medvedev

Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council opined that those companies would most probably want to get back

MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. The Russian authorities will separately consider requests for the return of foreign brands that withdrew from the market leaving loopholes for themselves, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said when answering a question asked by TASS.

"Those who quit leaving the door open for return (maintained an option, etc.) will most probably want to get back. It is necessary to have a separate talk with them based on the principles that the head of the state revealed yesterday as he met RSPP (the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs - TASS)," he said.

Earlier this week Russian President Vladimir Putin told an RSPP congress that Western companies would not be given any special treatment as they clamor to return to Russia, adding that those who left the market made that decision on their own. If the niches of Western companies are already occupied by Russian businesses, then "train has left the station," there will be no privileges or preferences for those returning, the president noted.
