Bank of Russia extends restrictions on foreign currency withdrawals until September 9

"The Bank of Russia maintains restrictions on cash currency in connection with the sanctions in force against our country," the regulator said

MOSCOW, March 8. /TASS/. The Bank of Russia, in connection with the sanctions in force against Russia, extended restrictions on the withdrawal of cash foreign currency for another six months, until September 9, 2024.

"The Bank of Russia extended restrictions on the withdrawal of cash foreign currency for another six months, until September 9, 2024. The Bank of Russia maintains restrictions on cash currency in connection with the sanctions in force against our country, which prohibit domestic financial institutions from purchasing cash currency from Western countries," the regulator said.

Earlier in September 2023, the Bank of Russia also extended restrictions on foreign currency cash withdrawals until March 9, 2024. In addition, according to the instructions of the regulator, until March 9, 2024, cash was not issued in US dollars, euros, pounds sterling, Japanese yen to non-resident legal entities; there are no restrictions on other currencies.
