Russia, Iran continue discussing potential swap supplies of oil, gas

Russian companies are still interested in taking part in oil and gas projects in Iran, with the issue being developed and the conditions being analyzed, Alexander Novak noted

MOSCOW, February 29. /TASS/. Russia and Iran continue negotiating swap supplies of oil and gas, with the issue remaining on the agenda, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said.

"[The issue is - TASS] at the discussion stage as it is largely tied not only with the country, with which swap is made, but also the logistics, transportation and other issues. The issue is relevant, indeed, it is on the agenda. As we know there is a memorandum signed between Gazprom and the Iranian Oil Company," he told reporters.

Russian companies are still interested in taking part in oil and gas projects in Iran, with the issue being developed and the conditions being analyzed, Novak added.

The parties also continue negotiating the potential creation of a joint electronic gas trading platform. "Indeed it was also discussed yesterday (at the meeting of the intergovernmental commission of Russia and Iran on trade and economic cooperation). Iranian colleagues came to St. Petersburg and saw how the electronic platform works," he said. "The colleagues are currently considering this issue, but overall we see prospects in this direction," the official noted.
