Coal production in Siberia to reach 375 mln metric tons by 2030

More than 16,000 jobs will be created in the sector

TASS, October 23. Coal production in Siberia will stand at 375 mln metric tons by 2030, according to the implementation plan of the strategy for socioeconomic development of the Siberian Federal District designed until 2035, approved by the Russian government.

"Coal production volume (subject to the increase of exports via ports of Azov-Black Sea and Northwestern basins) - total, the year of 2030 - 375 mln metric tons. Investments - 586.1 bln rubles ($6.2 bln)," the plan states.

It was noted that 325.5 mln metric tons of coal were extracted in Siberia in 2022, with investments amounting to 12.8 bln rubles ($135.1 mln).

Coking coal will account for a quarter from the total amount of produced coal in 2030, according to the plan. The share of coal for washing will be over 60%. More than 16,000 jobs will be created in the sector.
