MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. The countries of the collective West have enjoyed a monopoly over a number of key IT platforms and services due to the fact that developed and developing countries have unequal access to digital infrastructure, Deputy Russian Security Council Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday.
"Today, it is clear that the unequal level of access of developed and developing nations to digital infrastructure has enabled the collective West to monopolize certain key platforms and services in the IT field," Medvedev said.
The West promotes the interests of their IT companies and imposes their services [on users], thereby blocking the development of potential competitors in other countries, the official said. This policy on the part of the West requires that [other countries] consolidate their efforts to push back against the "practice of so-called digital neocolonialism," he added.
