Russians tops among foreigners buying housing in Turkey last month — Turkstat

In total, 102,660 transactions were concluded in the Turkish real estate market in October

ANKARA, November 16. /TASS/. Russian citizens ranked first among foreigners buying housing in Turkey in October, the Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat) reported on Wednesday.

"In October, Russian citizens bought 2 thousand 23 houses from Turkey. Coming in behind the Russians were Iranian citizens with 498 house sales, Iraqi citizens with 310 house sales and Ukrainian citizens with 216 house sales," Turkstat says on its website.

In total, 102,660 transactions were concluded in the Turkish real estate market in October.

According to the press release, house sales to foreigners decreased by 8.8% in October compared to the same month from the previous year and totaled 5,377.

"House sales to foreigners accounted for 5.2% of all house sales in October. Antalya ranked first with 2,123 sales to foreigners. The followers of Antalya were Istanbul with 1,658 house sales and Mersin with 490 house sales to foreigners," Turkstat says.

From January to October, house sales increased by 6.7% year-on-year to 1,160. Sales of real estate to foreigners during this period increased by 26.9%, to 55,021.
