HAIKOU /China/, July 26. /TASS/. Eight pavilions of the 2nd China International Consumer Products Expo have opened their doors to visitors. The expo is open only for business representatives and mass media during its first days, but it will open its doors for the general public on July 29.
Several thousand people visited the expo on the first day in Haikou (administrative center of the southernmost Chinese province, Hainan).
The expo is located in eight pavilions of Hainan International Exhibition Center. Each of them is dedicated to a different category of goods, regional or national expositions. They represent products and services under specific themes: goods for travel, sports and outdoor activities, consumer services, fashion and jewelry, food, beverages, spirits, medical products and medicines, electronic commerce and duty-free trade, as well as products and services of Chinese provinces, foreign participants and others.
The organizers told a TASS correspondent that this year the area and scale of the exhibition have significantly increased.
More than 2.8 thousand brands from more than 60 countries and regions of the world take part in this year's expo. Visitors could try European wines, Scotch and Irish whiskey, meat delicacies from Spain, Russian pastilles, drink Vietnamese coffee.
France is the guest of honor at the exhibition. The area of the country's exposition is about 3 thousand square meters: company stands are styled like the city street, with small stores on both sides, it ends with a cafe-bistro. French perfume and cosmetics, clothes, food and wine, jewelry and various services are on display.
As French President Emmanuel Macron said in his July 25 greeting to exhibitors, the national pavilion will give its visitors the atmosphere and experience of walking down one of the streets of Paris.
Anti-COVID measures
Tens of thousands of people gather on the grounds of the expo each year, so the organizers have taken special measures to prevent the risks of spreading coronavirus. All exhibitors and visitors to the expo must submit to a daily PCR test. Several testing stations have been set up in the complex to avoid crowds of people.
Visitors must also wear masks and take their temperature when entering pavilions. Two vials of rubbing alcohol, a thermometer and several packs of antibacterial wipes were given to journalists during registration and when receiving handouts.
Special conditions were created at food courts. Dining tables have special plastic partitions about 40 cm high which separate one place from the other.
