ST. PETERSBURG, June 16. /TASS/. Since the beginning of the year, Russian fertilizer producers reduced their exports by 20%, in April the figure fell by 40%, Head of the Russian Fertilizer Producers Association (RFPA) Andrey Guryev told reporters. According to him, now the companies supply about half of the monthly norm of 3 mln tonnes.
"Companies have not restored their exports. The situation varies from company to company and from product to product. As for the documented data - the decline in exports in April was around 40%. And since the beginning of the year - 20%," he said.
According to Guryev, companies can reach normal levels of export before the end of the year. "If companies can cope with the sanctions pressure and start normal shipments, then we will reach a normal level: we ship about 3 mln tonnes per month for export. Now it’s half," he said.
The current situation in the fertilizer and energy markets indicates that the growth of global prices in these markets will continue in the future, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov said earlier. "The issue with growing fertilizer and energy carrier prices foreshadows the reality that the increase will continue," Reshetnikov said. The minister stressed that the root cause of the global price growth was not the coronavirus pandemic, but the loose monetary policy of Western countries.
