Russia sets rules to pay for leasing, purchase of aircraft from unfriendly countries

If a foreign company-lessor from an unfriendly country has a structural division registered in the Russian Federation, payments will go to its account in a Russian bank in rubles, the document reads

MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. The Russian government has established temporary rules for national airlines and organizations to fulfil their obligations to foreign companies, the Cabinet’s press service reported on Wednesday. The resolution to that effect has been signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The document defines the procedure for the execution of contracts providing for the acquisition, rental and leasing of aviation equipment in 2022.

"If a foreign company-lessor from an unfriendly country has a structural division registered in the Russian Federation, payments will go to its account in a Russian bank in rubles in an amount equivalent to the value of liabilities in foreign currency. In this case, the calculations will be made at the official exchange rate of the Bank of Russia established on the day of fulfillment of obligations," the statement says.

If a foreign company connected with an unfriendly country works with Russian partners through a structural subdivision in a state that has not joined the sanctions, the payment will be made in the national currency of the country where this structural subdivision is registered, or in rubles, the Cabinet adds.

The signed document was designed to implement the decree of the President of Russia dated April 1 "On the temporary procedure for fulfilling financial obligations in transport sector to specific foreign creditors".
