Belarus plans to repair five segments of Druzhba oil pipeline

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said earlier today that Belarus will shut down oil pipelines for repair despite the Russian oil transit

MINSK, April 11. /TASS/. Belarus plans to overhaul five segments of the Druzhba oil pipeline, Chief Engineer of Gomeltransneft Druzhba Andrei Verigo told reporters on Thursday.

"Oil pipeline segments requiring revamping are always present. We are currently designing five segments for overhaul. The design work is underway for a year already," he said.

The oil pipeline will be 55 years old in 2019, Verigo noted. The wear and tear of capital assets of the oil pipeline’s active segment is over 65%, he noted.

Gomeltransneft Druzhba is a main oil pipeline pumping oil from the Russian segment of the Druzhba oil pipeline to West Europe and the Balkans.
