MOSCOW, January 11. /TASS/. The Kalashnikov concern has increased the production of special equipment, including Vikhr missiles and components for guided artillery shells, by 45% in 2023.

"In 2023, the JSC Concern Kalashnikov successfully completed the deliveries of Vikhr-1, Strela products, and assemblies and components for guided artillery shells and carried out work to master the production of new high-precision equipment. Production in the special equipment segment increased by 45%. A large export contract for the supply of Vikhr-1 guided missiles to a friendly state has been concluded," the company said.

The Vikhr guided missile is designed to hit ground-based maneuverable armored targets equipped with dynamic protection, as well as medium-speed aerial targets (helicopters, attack aircraft and drones). The Russian Defense Ministry has regularly reported the destruction of Ukraine’s Western-made armored vehicles by Russian helicopters using such missiles. As experts note, the missile’s tandem warhead is capable of destroying almost any Western tank.
