Protest organizers in Serbia have no chance of overthrowing Vucic — Deputy PM

They do not have a single suitable candidate to replace the country's president, Aleksandar Vulin said

MOSCOW, March 2. /TASS/. The organizers of the protests in Serbia have no chance of overthrowing the country's president Aleksandar Vucic, they do not have a single suitable candidate to replace him, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin said in an interview with TASS.

"They do not have a single person who could remove Aleksandar Vucic. Their main problem is that they do not have a single suitable person," Vulin said.

According to him, the organizers of the protests "are simply trying to provoke an incident that would lead to a serious political problem, but nothing more". "They don't have a single political course. And there is no one who could come to Aleksandar Vucic and say: ‘I can do better than him’," he added.

Since November 2024, anti-government protests have been taking place in Serbia, organized by students and representatives of the opposition. The main reason for the protests is the Novi Sad train station tragedy, which occurred on November 1, 2024, and resulted in the deaths of 15 people.

Vucic said that the street protests were organized by foreign secret services in order to destabilize the situation in the country. According to him, around 3 bln euro came to Serbia from abroad to overthrow him.
