Netanyahu convenes security cabinet amid talks on Lebanon

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has convened the country's security cabinet for a meeting scheduled for the afternoon of November 26 amid reports of progress in ceasefire talks in Lebanon, Dmitry Gendelman, an adviser to the Prime Minister's Office, told TASS.

"A meeting of the security cabinet is scheduled for November 26," he said in response to a corresponding question. However, Gendelman noted that "the agenda of the meeting will be announced at a later date."

Earlier, US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said at a briefing that Israel and Lebanon were now close to a ceasefire agreement that would include arrangements with the Shia group Hezbollah. According to the Al Nahar newspaper sources, US President Joe Biden and his and French counterpart Emmanuel Macron may issue a statement on the agreement as early as Tuesday, after the Israeli government approves the draft agreement at its meeting.
