Slovakian premier reaffirms his country’s refusal to send weapons to Ukraine

At the same time Robert Fico emphasized that Slovakia is interested in supporting Ukraine by all possible means

BRATISLAVA, March 27. /TASS/. During a meeting with Arm Gen. Christopher Cavoli, the commander of US European Command, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico reaffirmed his country’s refusal to send weapons to Ukraine, the government’s press service said.

During the meeting, Fico "reiterated the republic’s clear stance not to send weapons to Ukraine, but "emphasized that Slovakia is interested in supporting Ukraine by all possible means."

Fico’s government, created after the September 2023 elections in the country, decided not to provide military aid to Kiev. The incumbent government believes that the conflict in Ukraine cannot be resolved by military means and, if continued, will only lead to more casualties on both sides. Bratislava stands for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations.
