WASHINGTON, March 8. /TASS/. Washington will continue to work on the release of US journalist Evan Gershkovich, accused in Russia of espionage, and US citizen Paul Whelan, convicted of espionage, US President Joe Biden said in his State of the Union Address.

"We will also work around the clock to bring home Evan and Paul, Americans being unjustly detained all around the world," he said.

A correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, Gershkovich was arrested in Russia on espionage charges. Whelan, who has British, Irish, Canadian, and US citizenship, was detained during an espionage operation on December 28, 2018, in a room at the Metropol Hotel in Moscow.
