Turkey expects concrete steps from Sweden to prevent Quran desecration — top diplomat

According to theTurkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, it was stressed that the continuation of such actions under the guise of the freedom of expression is inadmissible

ISTANBUL, July 30. /TASS/. Turkey expects Sweden to take concrete steps to prevent Quran desecration actions, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said during a telephone conversation with his Swedish counterpart, Tobias Billstrom.

"It was stressed that the continuation of such actions under the guise of the freedom of expression is inadmissible and noted that concrete steps are expected from th Sweish government to prevent such actions in the future," the Turkish foreign ministry said.

According to the ministry, the two top diplomats also discussed issues of Sweden’s NATO membership. Ankara had repeatedly stressed that Stockholm must implement its commitments linked with combatting terrorism.

Turkey’s authorities are sharply respond to Quran desecration actions in Europe, in particular in Denmark and Sweden.
