Hainan builds innovation campus for American and European graduates

According to Li Min, Secretary-General of tChina's Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA), the organization will help maintain a welcoming environment at the innovation campus, strengthen its scientific capacity, and optimize work standards

China's Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA) together with the authorities of Hainan Province has established an innovation city on the island where projects will be implemented with the participation of highly qualified specialists who graduated from Western universities, China News Service reported.

According to the publication, the inauguration ceremony was held on February 21 and was attended by Ding Zhongli, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (the top legislative body), chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, who is also president of the WRSA. At the same time, the studio of Chinese sculptor Wu Weishan, an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts, was inaugurated.

The facility is located in Lingshui Li Autonomous County in the southern part of Hainan. It is the sixth innovation city in the People's Republic of China, designed for people who have acquired valuable knowledge abroad. Typically, areas with a high concentration and diversification of industrial resources, strong enough development incentives, a large number of foreign students, and good working conditions for professionals are selected for the establishment of such zones aimed at the formation of international high-tech clusters.

According to Li Min, Secretary-General of WRSA, the association will help maintain a favorable atmosphere in the innovation city, ensure the strengthening of its scientific capacity and optimize work standards. Through coordination with local authorities, the association will create an ideal platform for specialized enterprises and the formation of new production forces.

In the process of developing the innovation city, it is planned to pay special attention to the introduction of digital technologies and the creation of a developed production and trade infrastructure.

According to Hu Haifeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Linshui Lisu Autonomous County, the government will use all possible levers to successfully build a local creative industry. In particular, they are talking about constructive design programs, projects to create computer games, cartoons and cinematographic works.

With the new zone, the autonomous county is expected to boost international cooperation. This part of Hainan is home to the Li'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone, a cluster of colleges and universities with branches of highly listed foreign educational institutions. Development trust funds will be used to provide financing, and the relevant authorities have worked out support measures, including housing, high-quality medical services, and educational opportunities for the children of those who find jobs in the innovation city.
