ROSTOV-ON-DON, November 7. /TASS/. The comprehensive restoration of ecosystems in Donbass and Novorossiya is one of Russia's top priorities in the environmental sector, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a greeting to the participants of the second Dokuchaev Conference in Rostov-on-Don.
"Today, the comprehensive rehabilitation of ecosystems in Novorossiya and Donbass, our historic regions, is one of the most urgent goals in this field. We focus on the highest standards of environmental protection, water, and forest management while establishing peaceful life in these territories, reviving large industrial enterprises, and restoring energy and transportation infrastructure. It is important that we fully utilize the latest achievements of both domestic and foreign science, actively share knowledge, and apply best practices in implementing such large-scale environmental programs," the address reads.
Emphasis should be placed on improving environmental culture, particularly among young people, and promoting volunteerism, Putin stressed.
"Our country considers the issues of efficient nature management and ensuring the environmental safety of Russia and its people a top priority. The preservation of biodiversity and, most importantly, the quality of life and health of millions of citizens depend on the successful resolution of these issues," the Russian president emphasized.
The second All-Russian scientific and practical conference, known as the Dokuchaev Conference, is being held in Rostov-on-Don. During the event, experts from across the country will discuss the prospects for rehabilitating the natural ecosystems of the Donetsk People's Republic, Lugansk People's Republic, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Nearly 300 people will participate in the event. The final resolution will be sent to the Russian government.
