PREVIEW: Russian PM to take part in Eurasian Intergovernmental Council

MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. The meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, which will be attended by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, will be held in Moscow.

During the meeting the prime ministers of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) intend to discuss issues of further deepening of integration. According to the press service of the Russian government, special attention will be paid to the expansion of cooperation in the field of energy, industry and the development of e-commerce.

In addition, the sides will exchange views on amending the regulation on selection of joint cooperation projects in the sphere of industry and financial support for their implementation.

The upcoming meeting will be the 41st since the EAEU was established on January 1, 2015, and the fourth this year. The previous meeting was held in Yerevan on October 1. Armenia will chair the EAEU in 2024, while Belarus will take over the chairmanship next year.

The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council is composed of the heads of the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. The body ensures the implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the control over the implementation of the EAEU Treaty, gives instructions to the Eurasian Economic Commission and exercises other powers.
