MINSK, December 6. /TASS/. Trade turnover between Russia and Belarus is up 8.4% year on year, climbing above $37 bln according to the latest figures for 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Growing trade turnover indicators are clear evidence of the efficiency of the Russian-Belorussian integration. [President of Belarus] Alexander Grigoryevich [Lukashenko] already shared his expectations for this year’s numbers. This forecast, I believe, is right on the money. According to our statistics, trade grew by 8.4% from January to September, topping $37 bln. By the end of the year, it will likely approach the figures President Lukashenko projected," Putin said at the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus.
Lukashenko stated earlier that trade turnover between the two countries will reach a new yearly all-time record of $59-60 bln by year’s end.
Russia accounts for more than half of Belarus’ foreign trade balance, Putin said, while Belarus is Russia’s fourth-largest trade partner, owning a 9% share of total volume.
