ANKARA, April 7. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday he has discussed with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, a schedule of future bilateral contacts at various level.
"We discussed a schedule for further contact between the two governments at various levels," he told a news conference after talks with Cavusoglu. "We spoke in detail about the implementation of bilateral strategic energy projects, which are a driving force in our relations."
The Akkuyu NPP project, in his words, is the largest of them. The plant’s commissioning "will seriously strengthen Turkey’s energy security," Lavrov stressed. "We stated that a ceremony of loading nuclear fuel to the first unit is planned for April 27."
Erdogan said earlier that he did not rule out that Russian President Vladimir Putin would visit Turkey to attend the inaugural ceremony at the Akkuyu NPP. The Kremlin said however that "no decisions on this matter have been made yet," but promised that "the Russian side will be duly represented this of that way."
