ICRC received DPR human rights commissioner’s appeal about torture in Ukrainian captivity

The DPR human rights commissioner reported on October 21 that Russian servicemen released from Ukrainian captivity spoke of torture

MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has received an appeal from the human rights commissioner of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Darya Morozova, concerning the torture of Russian soldiers released from Ukrainian captivity, the committee told TASS on Tuesday.

"We are aware of this statement. The ICRC maintains a confidential bilateral dialogue with the parties to the international armed conflict about the prisoners of war they are holding captive. Our office in Donetsk is in constant contact with Ms. Darya Morozova and her office," the committee pointed out.

The DPR human rights commissioner reported on October 21 that Russian servicemen released from Ukrainian captivity spoke of torture. After communicating with them, her office appealed to the ICRC, as well as the UN Human Rights Council.
