Over 26,000 Russians living abroad cast votes early in lower house elections — diplomat

According to Maria Zakharova, 348 voting stations are created in 144 states, election commissions are formed and ready to work at these stations

MOSCOW, September 16. /TASS/. More than 26,000 Russian citizens residing overseas have voted early in the State Duma (lower house of parliament) elections as of September 15, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told a regular briefing.

"Russian diplomatic missions and consular departments are completing preparations for the State Duma member elections. <…> 348 voting stations created in 144 states, election commissions are formed and ready to work at these stations. The early off-site voting was organized in some countries where Russians live compactly. As of September 15, 26,339 people in 42 countries have voted early," she said.

The elections to the 8th Russian State Duma (lower house) are scheduled for September 19, 2021, known as the Single Voting Day. The balloting process will span across three days - September 17, 18, and 19.
