Putin will vote in parliamentary election in any case, Kremlin spokesman says

Dmitry Peskov noted that participation in the voting process "will hardly" make the president end his self-isolation

MOSCOW, September 16. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will definitely vote in the upcoming elections but the final decision on how he will do it will be announced later, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"We will inform you, I think, by the end of the day," he said. "In any case, the president will participate in the voting process," Peskov added.

When reporters pointed out that the registration for online voting was over, Peskov said that "the president is already registered."

The Kremlin spokesman noted that participation in the voting process "will hardly" make the president end his self-isolation. "I don’t rule out that he will take part in online voting," Peskov said.

Elections to the eighth State Duma (the lower house of parliament) are scheduled for September 19, 2021, known as the Single Voting Day. The balloting process will span across three days - September 17, 18, and 19. In addition to the State Duma elections, voters will go to the polls to cast ballots for the heads of nine Russian regions (in another three regions, local legislatures will elect top executive officials) and in elections for 39 regional parliaments.
