Emergency munition release in Russia’s Voronezh Region causes no casualties

The Defense Ministry noted that six private buildings suffered damage

MOSCOW, January 2. /TASS/. An emergency munition release occurred during a warplane flight over Russia’s Voronezh Region, causing no casualties, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"An emergency aircraft munition release took place at about 9:00 a.m. local time (6:00 a.m. GMT - TASS) on January 2, while an aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces was conducting a flight over the Petropavlovka settlement in the Voronezh Region. There were no casualties," the statement reads.

The ministry added that six private buildings suffered damage. A probe has been launched into the incident.

Regional Governor Alexander Gusev, in turn, said that residents of several streets in Petropavlovka had been relocated to a temporary accommodation center. The authorities will assess the damage done and pay out compensation, he added.
